LOS ANGELES, April 30 2024 - As part of its Earth Month efforts, CASETiFY, the global tech accessory brand loved by millennials, Gen Z, and Hollywood celebrities, has unveiled five unique art installations across the globe under the umbrella of its 2024 Earth Month campaign, “JOURNEY TO Re/BiRTH”. In order to bring it to life, CASETiFY worked with artists big and small to install awe-inspiring exhibitions in New York City, Korea, China, Australia, and Thailand. At its core, all art is made out of discarded phone cases collected by the brand’s Re/CASETiFY upcycling program. Beyond the installations, each location is also holding a series of public events that engage with their local communities by sparking dialogues about sustainability through the art. CASETiFY’s 2024 Earth Day campaign, Journey to RE/BiRTH, reflects the significant progress the company has made since its Re/CASETiFY debut in 2021. Earlier this month, the brand announced its milestone of having upcycled 84,000 kg of plastic since its inception. With its Journey to RE/BiRTH global activations, the brand seeks now to go one step forward and spark dialogues with communities around the world regarding sustainability. While doing that, CASETiFY has tapped the creative genius of talented artists including Wade and Leta in New York City, Youngmin Kang, Dayoung Hwang, Surin Kim in Korea, Zilin in China and furniture designer Eva in Australia and Tlejourn Shoes Project in Thailand. Each artist has produced their pieces using Re/CASETiFY pellets—a high-performance material made from phone cases that have reached the end of their original usefulness, as well as tiles and parts of discarded phone cases. Blending New York City’s Devoción Cafe’s rustic and earthy aesthetic with Wade & Leta’s lively and vibrant colors, this custom table and stools use Re/CASETiFY pellets from 12,000 recycled phone cases. The piece is meant to complement the space and engage customers in thoughtful conversations about sustainability. The artwork will be exhibited until April 27 in Brooklyn. Inside the space, an artful canvas made out of phone cases that reached the end of its life cycle stands out, followed by information about the different steps to upcycling that CASETiFY follows in its Journey to Re/Birth. Contemporary Korean artist Youngmin Kang created a 4-meter-tall giant chair, and digital-based artist Kim Su-rin presented a 3D-printed stone pagoda mixed with Re/CASETiFY pellets as well as raw corn starch materials. Artist Dayoung Hwang, who usually works by combining nature and imagination, created a sculpture inspired by the shape of a pair of seashells, expressing the union of people and nature. Surin Kim recreated a traditional Korean stone pagoda made by eco-friendly filaments and recycled pellets. Journey to Re/BiRTH in Seoul. More images can be found HERE. (KR folder) Australia also joined the global JOURNEY TO RE/BiRTH celebration by commissioning and installing the Re/Treat Sofa by local artists Eva in its CASETiFY Studio Store in Sydney. The sofa serves as a great talking point for mall visitors around the useful appliances that can be created with discarded materials such as old phone cases. Journey to Re/BiRTH in Sydney. In Bangkok, Thailand, customers are able to see at the CASETiFY Studio store an innovative way of utilizing this material brought about by local organization Tlejourn Shoes Project, a non-profit that transforms ocean waste into shoe soles. Together with volunteers from Trash Hero, polymer scientists from Prince of Songkla University’s Pattani Campus, fashion designers, and the Pattani community, they’ve upcycled those old phone cases into a limited edition of 500 pairs of Re/CASETiFY Sandals.
